COMPETITION PROCEEDINGS (STRUCTURE)

Please, read the following Rules & Regulations carefully. By registering and submitting your payment, you acknowledge that you have read and agree with the Rules & Regulations outlined below.

  1. Registration: Any contestant who meets the Eligibility Requirements set forth below, can audition for CGTMC online by uploading the audition video via YouTube or another video format. All entries must be received no later than May 31, 2020 (“Registration Deadline”). A confirmation email will be generated once the online registration is complete. CGTMC reserves the right to accept or reject any application at its sole discretion. It is the sole responsibility of the Contestant to ensure correct age categories and timings are entered on the registration form. CGTMC cannot assume responsibility or make adjustments for incorrect entries.
  2. Eligibility
    a. CGTMC is open to all instrumentalists and singers in the following age groups:
    Group 1: 11 years old and under;
    Group 2: 12-17 years old;
    Group 3: 18-25 years old;
    Group 4: “Beyond the Score” age 25 and underb. Age is calculated as of January 1, 2020. By registration deadline, the contestant must be of the appropriate age for the group entered. Incorrectly entered age group will result in disqualification.c. To accept the invitation to participate in Rounds 2, 3 and 4 of CGTMC, the contestant must be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of CGTMC that they do not have any contractual arrangement that would prohibit them from fully participating in CGTMC and/or entering into any contracts required by CGTMC.d. Neither contestant nor any of immediate family members or members of their household (whether related or not), may be an employee, officer or director of CGTMC, any person or entity involved in the casting, auditions, development, production, distribution, or other exploitation of CGTMC or any variation thereof, any known, major sponsor of CGTMC; or any person or entity supplying services or prizes to CGTMC.e. Contestants studying under the guidance of the Judges must notify CGTMC and will be evaluated by a different Judges.
  3. Payment: Entries are paid by credit card. All fees are non-refundable, except where the application is rejected by CGTMC administration. No receipts are issued.
  4. Recording Requirements (Round 1)
    a. YouTube video or other video platforms
    b. The contestant and their instrument must be clearly visible; no special effects are permitted
    c. Time limits must be strictly observed.
    Group 1: 7 minutes or less;
    Group 2: 7 minutes or less;
    Groups 3 & 4: 10 minutes or less.
  5. Judges’ decisions are final and in their sole discretion. Each contestant is judged based on the highest artistic standards with regard to musicianship, technical proficiency, and stage performance. CGTMC reserves the right to substitute or appoint additional Judges at any time at its sole discretion.
  6. Competition Proceedings & Repertoire Requirements:Round 1: Contestants must submit a video recording of their performance (as outlined in item 4) in the Registration form, and payment has to be made in full online no later than May 31, 2020. Finalists who qualify to proceed to Round 2 will be notified via email on or before August 1, 2020.Round 1 Repertoire:
    Groups 1, 2 & 3: Any standard repertoire is accepted.
    Group 4: Classical music and classical instruments are the roots of many genres. Group 4 is open to the contestants who feel they have a unique and creative way of interpreting classical music and think “Beyond the Score”. The only limit is the imagination.Round 2: 18 contestants in each category age group (72 total) will perform live in front of the judges.

    Round 2 will take place in:
    XY concert hall/other, USA – 1-10 November 2020
    XY concert hall, Vienna – 20-22 November 2020

    To assist CGTMC in proper scheduling, contestants must indicate their preferred Round 2 location on the registration form.

    Round 2 Repertoire:

    Groups 1, 2 & 3: Any standard repertoire in its original form from Baroque or Classical periods.
    Group 4: Own choice

    Round 2 time limits:
    Group 1: 7 minutes or less;
    Group 2: 7 minutes or less;
    Groups 3 & 4: 10 minutes or less.

    Round 3 (Episodes 1-2-3): 12 contestants in each group (48 total), will perform live in front of the judges. This round will be recorded for televised transmission. This round will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra.

    3 finalists from each group will be selected.

    Round 3 will take place in:

    XY concert hall, Vienna – 26-29 November 2020 (rehearsals with the chamber orchestra: 23-25 November, 2020)

    Round 3 Repertoire:

    The title of the piece which would be played in Round 3 has to be added in the Registration form.

    Groups 1, 2 & 3: Any standard repertoire in its original form from Romantic or Post-Romantic periods.
    Group 4: Own choice

    Round 3 time limits:
    Group 1: 7 minutes or less;
    Group 2: 7 minutes or less;
    Groups 3 & 4: 10 minutes or less

    Round 4 (Grand Final, Episode 4): 3 participants in each group (12 total), will perform live in front of the judges and audience. This round will be recorded for televised transmission. This round will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra.

    Round 4 Repertoire:

    The title of the piece which would be played in Round 4 has to be added in the Registration form.

    All groups: one movement of any concerto or orchestral composition.

    Round 4 will take place in:

    Wiener Konzerthaus, Vienna – 4 March 2021 (rehearsals with the chamber orchestra: 2-3 March, 2021)

    1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each group will be announced in the Grand Final.

  7. Memorization in all Rounds is compulsory.
  8. LIVE ROUND REQUIREMENTS:
    a. The live rounds will be taped for future TV transmission. By participating in CGTMC contestants and/or their parent/guardian give CGTMC permission to telecast their performances without further consultation and without any monetary gain to them at any time in the future.
    b. Contestants must arrive at least 30 minutes before their scheduled performance time. Instrumentalists must provide their own accompanists and page-turner, if needed in Round 2. Taped accompaniment is not permitted. Round 3 and 4 will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra. Organizers will provide a list of local accompanists upon request.
    c. Contestants may be accompanied by ONE (1) PERSON, who must arrive with them during check-in. For participants under 18 years of age, the accompanying guest must be the parent, legal guardian, or appointed legal guardian. The APPOINTED GUARDIAN MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE.
    d.Items required for participation in live rounds:
    1. Contestants must bring a valid form of ID to show proof of age (for example, ID card, or a birth certificate).
    2. Each Contestant or their legal guardian is required to sign a Personal Release form prior to participating in Round 2. The Personal Release form will be emailed to     the qualifying contestants. Please bring the filled out and SIGNED Personal Release form to the Round 2 location on the day of the competition. For minor participants (under 18 years of age), both contestant and the parent or legal guardian MUST sign the Personal Release form.
    e. Dress Code at Live Rounds. Contestants should not wear any clothing or bring any items that have designer names, corporate or sports team names or logos, copyrighted images, celebrity names or images (living or dead), cartoon character images or inappropriate messages or words (for example, profanity). If contestant wears such clothing, they may be required to remove it, turn it inside out or put on additional clothing to cover it.
    f. NO CHILDREN UNDER 3 YEARS OF AGE WILL BE ALLOWED AT THE COMPETITION VENUES.
    g. CGTMC does not take responsibility for any items brought into the competition venue. All bags are subject to search at any time.
    h. Cell phones and/or any other electronic devices must be turned off. Photography, audio, or video recordings is not permitted at any time during the competition process.
  9. Contestants are responsible for all their expenses related to their registration, participation, and performance with CGTMC, except the traveling fees and the accommodation fees in Round 3 and 4 as follows:Round 3:

    The winners of Round 2 in Florida: traveling fees from New York, USA-Vienna and Vienna-New York, New York, USA, and accommodation fees in Vienna during the Round 3.
    For winners of Round 2 in Vienna, CGTMC will chargeback the traveling fees (only Economic class) after the competition (not before 31 May 2021) and accommodation fees (max. three star accommodations) in Vienna during Round 3 (including rehearsals).
    CGTMC will cover travel expenses of one accompanying parent/guardian for contestants under the age of 17.

    Round 4:

    The winners of Round 3: traveling fees from the participant’s residence to Vienna and from Vienna to the participant’s residence and accommodation fees during Round 4 (including rehearsals).

    CGTMC will cover travel expenses of one accompanying parent/guardian for contestants under the age of 17.

  10. In the case of unforeseeable events, CGTMC reserves the right to reschedule or cancel the competition.
  11. CGTMC is not responsible for any personal injury, loss, or damage to personal property, including instruments.
  12. No Soliciting or Promotional Material is permitted at any CGTMC events unless previously approved by CGTMC administration in writing.
  13. Some CGTMC events will be photographed and/or recorded for marketing, promotional, or fundraising purposes on any media, including CGTMC website, Facebook, other social media platforms, and press releases, without any monetary or other obligation to the competitors or third parties.
  14. CGTMC has the sole discretion to make determinations of contestant eligibility, which are binding and final in all respects, and reserves the right to change any of the eligibility requirements at any time. CGTMC has the sole discretion at any time to render ineligible and disqualify any person who, in CGTMC’s sole discretion, is sufficiently acquainted with the development, production, administration, judging, exhibition or other exploitation of CGTMC such that his or her participation in the Program could create the appearance of impropriety. CGTMC reserves the right to exclude, in its sole and absolute discretion, any individual from any of the auditions for any reason or for no reason at all, including without limitation, violation of any portion of rules and regulations, or tampering with the entry process or the audition process. CGTMC reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions at any time. Being chosen to audition and/or compete at any level in the process does NOT ensure that a contestant will be selected to continue to the next stage.
