What is the deadline for the application?
The application deadline is 23:59 (CET), 31 May 2020.
What are the costs of the competition?

The mandatory registration fee is 50 USD per contestant.

Registration fee:

  •  Group 1: 11 years old and under Fee: 175 USD 
  • Group 2: 12-17 years old Fee: 225 USD
  • Group 3: 18-25 years old Fee: 275 USD
  • Group 4: Beyond the Score: age 25 and under Fee: 275 USD

Contestants are responsible for all their expenses related to their registration, participation, and performance with CGTMC, except the traveling fees and the accommodation fees in Round 3 and 4 as follows:

Round 3:

The winners of Round 2 in Florida: traveling fees from New York, New York, USA-Vienna and Vienna-New York, New York, USA (only Economy class), and accommodation fees (max. three-star accommodations) in Vienna during the Round 3 (including rehearsals). CGTMC will make transportation and accommodation arrangements for the qualifying contestants. Any bookings made by contestants or their parent/guardian on their own and/or without the prior consent of CGTMC will not be reimbursed.

For winners of Round 2 in Vienna, CGTMC will reimburse travel (only Economic class tickets) and accommodation expenses (max. three-star accommodations) after the competition is completed (not before 31 May 2021) (max. three-star accommodations) in Vienna during Round 3 (including rehearsals).

CGTMC will cover the travel expenses of one accompanying parent/guardian for contestants under the age of 17.

Round 4:

The winners of Round 3: CGTMC will cover travel and accommodation expenses from the contestant’s residence (only Economy class tickets) to and from Vienna. CGTMC will cover travel expenses of one accompanying parent/guardian for contestants under the age of 17 (max. three-star accommodations). CGTMC will make transportation and accommodation arrangements for the qualifying contestants. Any bookings made by contestants or their parent/guardian on their own and/or without the prior consent of CGTMC will not be reimbursed..

Is the registration fee refundable?
All fees are non-refundable, except where the application is rejected by CGTMC administration.
How do I pay the participation fee?
You can pay via our website by PayPal.
Whom do I have to notify if I have to cancel my registration?
In the case of cancellation, please, contact us via info@classicalia.com.
What kind of instruments is the competition open to?
CGTMC is open to all instrumentalists and singers.
What are the requirements for the video to be submitted with the application form, quality, format?
The video has to be an mp4 file and HD quality.
Can I enter the competition with more than one video?
No, you could only apply with one video.
What if I already have a video of a live performance? Can I use it for my audition video?
Yes, you can if it matches the requirements.
When do I have to submit the titles of the pieces I would like to play during the competition?
You have to list all of the pieces you would like to play during the competition in the registration form.
Can I apply for the classical and the Beyond the Score category at the same time?
No, you could only apply for one category.
Will I be notified if I don’t make the Round 2?
Only those contestants who qualify to move on to Round 2 will be notified on or before August 1, 2020.
Do I have to memorize all the pieces I will present?
Yes.
Do I have to bring my own pianist for the competition?
Yes, you must bring your own accompanist for Round 2. CGTMC will provide a list of suggested accompanists upon requests.

Rounds 3 and 4 are accompanied by a chamber orchestra and do not require an accompanist.

Do I need to bring my own piano scores?
Yes.
Will I have time to rehearse with the chamber orchestra?
Yes, there will be a 3-day rehearsal period prior to Round 3, and 2 days prior to the Grand Final.
Are all live rounds taped for future television transmission?
Yes.
I am a pianist/harpist/percussionist/etc.; will I able to try the instrument of the competition?
Yes, we give you some time to try the instruments before the competition.
In which language could I communicate during the competition?

All the communications of the competition are in English, please, let us know if you have troubles with the language via info@classicalia.com.
